GWC currently has thirty-one active members, and we would love to have more! Any woman who wishes to participate in activities to better our community is encouraged to join. Our activities range from trash pick-up along Main Street to helping with the annual bazaar, and we participate in many other service projects as well. We have fun, but we also donate to and participate in many arts, conservation, education, and health-related projects to make our area a better place to live.
One of our most enduring projects in the conservation area has been the establishment of a scholarship at Tusculum College in environmental science in honor of Doug Ratledge, (center, left photo above) the longtime director of Cedar Creek Learning Center. The center served thousands of area students during his tenure as director, providing nature walks (right, above), canoeing, cave exploration, and conservation education.
